Core Values
As a church community, the following values are guiding us in our decision making and how we relate to each other.
Anti-oppression
We follow Jesus in naming and disrupting the forces of violence and oppression in ourselves and in society. The good news of God’s liberating love bids us to join in God’s work through history, compelling us to oppose racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism, and all forms of oppression inflicted on God’s creation.
Community
Belonging is central to faith development; we are meant to follow Jesus together. We are made whole when people express their full humanity. We build community with compassion and curiosity, vulnerability and authenticity, while honoring people’s boundaries.
Accountability
We take trust seriously and invest in building it on the personal, structural and community levels. We learn and practice accountability in restorative, peacemaking ways to repair relationships and create an environment of safety, transparency, and health.
Embodiment
God met us through becoming human and residing in a human body. In this, God affirms the goodness and spiritual significance of our bodies, and in response we honor the wisdom we access through our senses. We take responsibility for how we treat ourselves and each other, prioritizing gentleness, rest, and renewal.
